She highlighted that her dream project has been to work on the adaptation of the book which is seemingly becoming true for her. She concluded by saying ‘It’s going to happen in the near future and it’s been a long time in the making and I’m very, very ripe and ready to get into that for sure’

The Agency also reported that Nyong’o purchased film Rights in 2014 and has been working with fellow Black Panther cast Dania Gurira to write the screenplay.

In 2018, the duo stated that the novel was being turned into a mini-series and not a feature film. They visited Nigeria to do research for the screen project.

This will mark the third time Nyong’o and Gurira work together. Prior to playing Nakia and Okoye in Marvel’s Black Panther, Gurira wrote Eclipsed — the play that landed Nyong’o her first Tony nomination.
