Interview with Olaleye Oluwadamilola

V.S – Tell us about you, who is Dami?D.O – I am a Nigerian girl who believes in the impossibility of life. My full name is Olaleye Oluwadamilola. I am 18 years old. Currently studying computer science in covenant university.

V.S – When did you get into digital art ?

D.O – I started digital art around this time last year.

V.S – Can you tell us about your style?

D.O – Am still trying to bring out my style. What I see in my head isn’t what I draw. But mainly my style is remodeling nigerian art with my knowledge of western art.

V.S – What are you currently fascinated by and how is it feeding into your work?

D.O – I totally love how pixar and disney design their characters- semi realistic. Their characters have this feel of humanity but in actual sense they are cartoons. After studying a lot of their works, my paintings are now neither completely cartoony nor completely realistic. And I love that.

V.S – Your most unconventional source of inspiration?
D.O – Instagram. It is my goto place for ideas and inspiration.

V.S – A website and/or blog you visit often?
D.O – Pinterest.

V.S – Are you a MAC or PC lover? Favourite app for illustrations?

D.O – A PC lover. I use mainly Paint Tool Sai (it’s not that common) for my paintings but occasionally I try to test other apps like photoshop, krita, sketchbook and medibang.
V.S – What’s the best piece of advice you have heard and repeat to others?

D.O – Practice makes perfect. I never thought I could be this good in Art but regardless I drew everyday and unknown to me I started becoming the person imagined.
V.S – Can you describe your favourite colour in detail? If Not then

D.O – Black is my favourite colour. Funny but true. I am a very simple person and the simplicity of Black is so exceptional.
