Chinonye Chukwu to direct the movie adaption of Eleanor Brown’s memoir. A taste of power

Nigerian-American film director best known for the drama film Clemency is attached to direct “A Taste of Power,” a film adaptation of the former Black Panther leader Elaine Brown’s 1992 memoir, of the same title.  Black List writer Alyssa Hill will adapt the screenplay.

Elaine Brown is the first and only female leader of the Black Panther party from 1974 – 1977, this after Huey Newton was exiled to Cuba. She led the Panther party through turbulent times in Oakland to political success in the city, while fending off threats from local police, the FBI, and disaffected party members.
