Housemates Who Went From BBNaija to Nollywood

The fifth season of Big Brother Naija (BBN) premiered on July 19th, 2020 and we know it’s about to be an interesting next three months. Looking back at the past BBN contestants, we have noticed that many previous housemates have made a transition from BBN to Nollywood.

Gideon Okeke

Gideon was one of the 14 contestants in the first season of BBN which aired in 2006. Since then, he has acted in TV shows such as Tinsel, Poisoned Bait, and many others. He has also starred in many movies such as When Love Happens, A Place in the Stars, Gbomo Gbomo, and 93 Days. His portrayal of Dr. Morris Ibeawuchi, in 93 Days earned him an AMVCA nomination.

Katung Aduwak

Katung was the winner of the first season of BBN in 2006. Since then, he has been working behind the scenes in Nollywood. He wrote, produced, and directed the 2019 film Heaven’s Hell.

Bisola Aiyeola


Bisola contested in season 2 of BBN and won 2nd place. Since then, she has appeared in movies such as Chief Daddy, Sugar Rush, Picture Perfect, Ovy’s Voice, Payday, Gold Statue, and many others.

Tokunbo Idowu

Tboss BBN

Popularly known as Tboss, Tokunbo was one of the contestants on the second season of BBN. Tboss has gone on to star in Nollywood film, River Kada which was nominated for two AMVCAs and 2018’s The Island Movie.

Somadina Anyama


Soma was one of the contestants in the second season of BBN. Lasting only two weeks in the house, the evicted contestant went on to land roles in TV shows such as MTV’s Shuga and Jenifa’s Diary.

Gifty Powers

Gifty Powers BBN

Gifty was a contestant on the second season of BBN and was evicted after 28 days. She went on to star in movies such as Grey Shadows and Success.

Cynthia Nwadiora

Popularly known as Cee C, Cynthia emerged the runner up of BBN season 3. She made her acting debut in TV series, ‘Fake Liars’. where she stars along Nkem Owoh, Charles Okocha, Caroline Danjuma, and Broda Shaggi.

Oluwatobi Bakre

Tobi Bakre

Popularly known as Tobi, Oluwatobi was a finalist in season 3 of BBN. Since then, Tobi has featured in Nollywood films such as Fix Us, Mokalik, Sugar Rush, Hustle, and Jenifa’s Diary.

Alex Asogwa

Alex BBN

Alex was a runner up on BBN season 3. The socialite made her acting debut in the 2019 film, Merry Men 2: Another Mission.

Oluwabamike Olawunmi and Tope Adenibuyan

Popularly known as Bam Bam and Teddy A respectively, the couple were both contestants on season 3 of Big Brother Naija. They made their acting debut in a film called “The Gift” where they star opposite each other.

Mercy Eke

Mercy Eke emerged as the winner of the fourth season of BBN. She made her debut into Nollywood through 2020’s film Fate of Alakada. However, the release of the film was suspended following the ongoing pandemic.
