Meet Hanson Okere, the visual artist that creates art with fire

Hanson Chidozie Okere is a Nigerian Artist from Rivers state, born in 1993. He is a graduate of the university of port Harcourt with a Bachelor of Arts. Hanson okere as he popularly referred to, started drawing as a little child and decided pursue his dream of being an artist as a kid.  He is a seasoned professional artist who focuses on complexities of the human mental state (mind), aiming to depict the complications of human life through his uniqe style called PYROGRAPHY/(woodburning); has participated in several exhibition, locally and aiming to have an international recognition along the course of his career.

What is Pyrography?

Pyrography locally called (wood burning), using razor blade to draw on burnt wood, creating very realistic artworks with just razor blade.

How long does it take to create a piece?

‘Most times it takes up to a month to produce a piece of artwork says the artist and patience is the key to that, I try as much as possible to give microscopic and meticulous attention to details in order for me to achieve a fabulous piece of artwork’

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

One of my biggest challenges was financing my self alone and making decisions, it was really terrible for me at some point, but to God be the glory for the success so far.

What’s your advice to upcoming artists?

My advice to all upcoming artists is be patient, Be hopeful and creative just always believe in your self and success will come naturally.
