If Nollywood hasn’t told you that your mother-in-law will be wicked to you, then you haven’t seen enough Nollywood films. Today, we will be dissecting one of the overused Nollywood tropes out there, the wicked mother/step-mother.
Every mother-in-law hates their future daughter-in-law.
Sometimes it’s because they have already arranged for him to marry a complete stranger, other times, it’s because wickedness just comes in their DNA.
If she’s a step-mother, best believe her step-kids will suffer it.
Perhaps her grand plan is to eliminate the kids but we’ll never know because she never really reveals why she is wicked, she just is.
Even her biological kids are not safe.
Sometimes they connive with an outsider to do juju so their kids will fall in love with the woman they approve of.
They are never supportive of their children’s dreams.
Whatever you want to be, best believe a Nollywood mother will stand in the way of your goals and dreams.
Anyone who wants to marry their son is a gold-digger.
And then you look at the son and wonder why anyone would go there to dig for gold.
Sometimes, she is wicked with class.
Do you think all wicked mothers do juju? Think again, get with the times.
There is a poster person for the wicked mother trope.
If your mother or in-law in a Nollywood film is Patience Ozokwor, start digging your grave.
