Birthed from the need to celebrate local relevance and culture with an urban twist, the Urban YamFest was created to cater to the 21 st century Nigerian youth.

The event which held on the 31 st of August 2019 at 7 seasons Lekki, featured a millennial crowd experiencing a specific selection of Yam Dishes served up by the new type of culinary
visionaries: The Creator Chefs, the Social Cooks, and the digital food vendors.

With growth in an enabling environment for young local culinary entrepreneurs, our aim was to promote adventure and ingenuity with local food creations. This goal was achieved thanks to all vendors who delivered contemporary and innovative Yam dishes to all guests in attendance. Some of the vendors featured were; Gerrard’s Inn, Simpli foods, Food Assasin, Chef Isie and of course the host venue; 7 Seasons.

Partners like The Ajebo Thrift shop, ArtxJuju and a few others took advantage of the platform to display their fashion and accessory pieces, generating positive impact as they keyed into the opportunity to promote using the collaborative platform. Other media partners like MoreBranches, Radr Africa, PGM, and VibeTribe contributed to making the outing a success.

The event which was intended to be a small celebration that engaged food-lovers and entrepreneurs ended up becoming a full blown party, with the event Djs; BigFootInYourFace,
Ayizan and Dapper, keeping the guests dancing while they ate into the night.
