February 2018 saw The Nigerian bobsled trio – Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omeoga – inspire Nigerians by being the first team from Africa to qualify for and compete in the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

The team made a historic appearance after crowdfunding efforts raised funds well over their initial $75,000 goal with attention and support from around the world.

The team also caused a lot of buzz with their consistent efforts to raise awareness of Winter Olympics among Nigerians through the country’s first Bobsled and Skeleton Federation.

Their first outing at the 2018 Winter Olympics has served as a huge source of inspiration for Nigerians interested in exploring new sports and taking part in the Winter Olympics with the rest of the world. Following their performance at the Olympics, a new Nigerian men’s bobsledding team has emerged and is getting set to join the next batch of athletes in the 2022 Winter Olympics.
