VS50 – Adesuwa Aighewi


Adesuwa Aighewi is a 26 year old American Model born to a Chinese mother and a Nigerian Father. Before establishing her modelling career, Adesuwa was a Chemistry student at the University Of Maryland.

She was discovered while in school and has walked and appeared in ads for Alexander Wang, Christian Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Yeezy, Michael Kors, Vera Wang and many others. She opened Coach’s 2018 is currently ranked on the hot list on Models.com and was runner up for the 2018 “Breakout Star of the Year” award.

In addition to modelling, Adesuwa regularly comments on the issues that matter to her like representation of diversity in fashion. She has plans for a miniseries exploring African culture and values and is also working on a children’s book titled “Akugbe” about a boy who goes on a year long journey in search of his family. She has also partnered with the ACLU Foundation (a legal advocacy organisation) and RE/DONE (a US clothing brand) to design a line of hooded sweatshirts to promote freedom of speech and equality.

Her directorial debut was a short film called Spring in Harlem focusing on the beauty of Muslim women.

The creative industry is a sector that encompasses expressions in art and film to fashion and architecture. It is one of the most rapidly growing sectors globally and social media has allowed creators widen the reach of their message. VS50 merits the achievements of futurists that have inspired us through street culture, film and art and pushed our imagination through design and creative content.
